I'm sorry to report this, but I feel as if my time on xanga is over.

So now you can read my reviews and bensmovies.blogspot.com. I don't know... I've been with xanga for so long out of habit, but now I've discovered blogger and I like it so much better. So I'll be using that now.

Those of you who commented, thanks. And those of you who read but didn't comment, thanks. Hope it was fun for you because it was fun for me.

There's an unrated version? I don't know which version we ended up watching. Probably the R-rated.

I am so unbelievably indifferent to this film right now. The production obviously looks under-funded. The most notable awkward moment is the attempt to pass off an office as an airport terminal. They throw up a sign that says, "flight arriving from Los Angeles" and hope for the best. That was unfortunate. There's also a character who's supposed to be discovered by Clive Davis as an amazing talent, and the music video that she's in looks TERRIBLE and amateur.

But, i can't really fault the film for having a lack of funds. The material itself is potentially interesting: Mormon missionaries move in next door to a gay man and awkwardness ensues. Especially when one of the missionaries discoveres he's gay.

I'm almost aggrivated that I can't dislike this film more, because there isn't a lot to really like here. The acting is surprisingly solid. The script is alright, I suppose, although they seem to just pick some stereotypes and give them lines (there's even the Sassy Black Roommate). The script is just really tedious and long. Two characters talk for literally fifteen minutes.

But there's nothing offendingly bad about this, so it's not like I can say that it's a bad film. I just can't say it's a particularly great one, either.

The Truth About Charlie/Charade
By Thandie Newton, Mark Wahlberg, Tim Robbins

Wow. I'm so behind... I watched this film like, a week or two ago. Whoops.

This is a remake of the classic film Charade (also included on the DVD, but unwatched by me). A lot of critics hated it, I thought it was fine. Thandie Newton is great, Mark Wahlberg is fine, Tim Robbins gives a terrible performance (with the right role, he can really stink up a film: War of the Worlds anyone?). Beyond that, it's just a lot of tricky camera-work to cover up some of the film's flaws.

I dunno. I'm glad I rented it instead of seeing it in the theater. But I'm also glad I saw it.
